Courage

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. ~ 1 Timothy 4:12

Wednesday, September 24th, was the annual See You at the Pole event. On that day, students were encouraged to gather around their school's flag pole before the start of class to pray.

At one middle school in Pennsylvania, only a single student showed up at the pole. This student could have prayed to himself while walking into the school building. He could have decided to just pack it in since no one else showed up. He could have done any of a million things, but he choose to kneel at the pole and seek God's face.

Alone, yet undaunted, he prayed. That, my friends, is courage.

In 1 Timothy 4:12, the aging Apostle Paul encourages a youthful Timothy to be an example for others in spite of his age. Truly, the young man in the picture aboven is an example to all of us.

I hope, from his example, you gain the courage to stand for Christ in your home, your neighborhood, and your workplace.

And, if you happen to be a parent, I hope you are inspired to do what is necessary to raise young men and women of courage and resolve. The Lord knows that we need plenty of them!
