Life Changing News

Jesus said, "Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke fits perfectly, and the burden I give you is light." ~ Matthew 11:28-30 (NLT)

I want you to take a moment and picture in your mind the family member or friend that you love most in this world.

Now, with that person sitting at the forefront of your mind, imagine the following: This person, whom you love so much, is terribly ill with a rare incurable cancer. Day after day, you watch as this cancer advances rapidly. Day after day, you grieve as this cancer eats away at health and strength and hope. Day after day, you ache as your loved one edges closer and closer to death’s door.

You can hardly bare it.

But one day, you hear on the news that a researcher in Japan has developed a possible cure. Several people, who had the same rare cancer as your loved one, have been treated and cured. It is truly amazing news! Only, you do nothing with it. You keep this life-changing news to yourself and, within a few months, your precious loved one passes away.

I highly doubt something like that would ever happen. If you really did hear of a researcher with a cure for a deadly cancer that was viciously attacking a loved one, you would not keep it to yourself. I know I sure wouldn’t. I would get my loved one to that researcher as fast as I possibly could. I would do all that was in my power to see that my loved one received the cure no matter the cost.

I’m not alone, am I? Wouldn’t you react the very same way? Let me ask you another question though. Are you doing all that is within your power to bring loved ones to Jesus?

Doing all that you can to see loved ones receive a cure for cancer is very noble, but guess what? All of your loved ones will eventually die of something at sometime. It is inevitable. This being the case; I often ask myself, “If I am so willing to do whatever I can to give my loved ones a “temporary fix,” why do I hesitate so much to give my loved ones the gift of eternity through Jesus Christ?”

Do you struggle with this as well? If so, I guess it's time for both of us to be a bit bolder!
