Where Can I Find Real Satisfaction?
Since you have been raised to new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits at God's right hand in the place of honor and power. ~ Colossians 3:1
Recently, I have been seeing commercials advertising a TV show.
In this ad, a man steps onto a diving board and begins a monologue. “My name is Neil Truman, and I have what every man in America wants—a beautiful family, a big house, and an 80-inch TV. So why can’t I shake the feeling that there’s something missing and having it all may not be enough?”
From there the commercial flits through images of how Hollywood generally answers Neil’s questions—sex, pleasure, living on the edge, etc.
Millions of people really do feel how fictional Mr. Truman does. Sadly, many of them seek solutions through the lurid answers this show undoubtedly provides. Yet regardless of how things end up on a fictional show, in reality all those who seek those kinds of answers will come up empty time and again.
If you are searching for more, the answer will not be found on a cable TV show. If you feel something is missing, you won’t find it in sex, pills, drugs, magazines, possessions, porn, self-help books, etc. If you have come to find out that having it all is not enough, you are right where the Lord wants you. He wants you to understand that having it all without having Christ will never be enough.
If you feel like Neil does, then your next step is not to watch that show. Your next step is to look to Christ, to seek more of Him, and to understand His will for you right now.
Fall on your knees, crawl into the lap of your Heavenly Father, and cry out, “Lord, give me more of your Son. Fill me with more of Christ. Begin to use me to do more than I ever thought possible.”
Those are the prayers that God delights in answering.
