What Can I Do for You?
When they reached Jericho, and as Jesus and his disciples left town, a large crowd followed him. A blind beggar named Bartimaeus (son of Timaeus) was sitting beside the road. When Bartimaeus heard that Jesus of Nazareth was nearby, he began to shout, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” “Be quiet!” many of the people yelled at him. But he only shouted louder, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” When Jesus heard him, he stopped and said, “Tell him to come here.” So they call

Christ-Centered Christmas -- Day 4

How's Your Faith?
If you have experienced the healing touch of Jesus in your life, if you have received His love and His gift of eternal life, then you should be equally willing to bring others to Him right away. Just as I am sure you would do whatever is necessary to get a cure for your dying loved one, so you must do whatever is necessary to bring people to Jesus. Below is the story of a group of friends who were willing to do just that. In Mark 2:1-5, we find four friends who were going to

Come to Christ
Jesus is the answer to everything you are dealing with right here, right now. In Romans 7:24-25, a tormented Apostle Paul pens these words, Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin? Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. Hebrews 4:14-16 encourages us to run boldly toward that answer. That is why we have a great High Priest who has gone to heaven, Jesus the Son of God. Let us cling to him and never stop trusting him

Searching for More
I’ve been searching for something more. Recently, I went into my son’s bedroom and knelt down to pray. I don’t know why I chose his room. Maybe it’s because he’s visiting his grandparents for a couple weeks and I miss him, or maybe it’s because I wish I was a better father. Whatever the reason, I got on my knees on that bedroom floor and told Jesus I was searching for something more; something that would make me a purer man, a more considerate husband, and better father; some

What Do You Do When You Sin?
What do you do when you sin? Do you try to pretend it didn’t happen? Do you use all your energy to hide it from Christ and others, or do you bring it to Jesus? What do you do? I will confess to you that I am a great hider. Now when you are playing Ghost in the Graveyard or Hide-n-Seek, this is a good skill to have in your bag. However, it is not a good skill when it comes to dealing with sin. Regardless, hiding sin is what I did. I worked so hard to hide my sin and look like

Ready to Turn Around?
Peter’s words pierced their hearts, and they said to him and to the other apostles, “Brothers, what should we do?” Peter replied, “Each of you must repent of your sins and turn to God, and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. Then you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit..." ~ Acts 2:37,38 (NLT) Repent: (Greek) to change one's mind; to turn from I'm headed in the wrong direction, only I don't think so. My wife, of course, insists we ar

How Can I Get Some Joy!?!
Can you imagine someone coming up to you and saying, "Hey, I just found out I need to have emergency surgery! Can I share my joy with you?" Or how about, "Hey, my house burned down, and I lost all of my possessions! Can I share my joy with you?" If someone were to say something like the above to you, you might begin leafing through the phone book (do people still do that?) looking for the number to the local psychiatric ward! It is not natural to have "joy enough to share" wh

God Isn't Looking for Your Quarter
"Prayer is surrender--surrender to the will of God and cooperation with that will. If I throw out a boathook from the boat and catch hold of the shore and pull, do I pull the shore to me, or do I pull myself to the shore? Prayer is not pulling God to my will, but the aligning of my will to the will of God.” ~ E. Stanley Jones There are so many things that can go wrong with vending machines! Have you ever put your money in a vending machine to get a bag of chips or pretzels o
