How's Your Faith?

If you have experienced the healing touch of Jesus in your life, if you have received His love and His gift of eternal life, then you should be equally willing to bring others to Him right away. Just as I am sure you would do whatever is necessary to get a cure for your dying loved one, so you must do whatever is necessary to bring people to Jesus. Below is the story of a group of friends who were willing to do just that.

In Mark 2:1-5, we find four friends who were going to do whatever it took to get a fifth friend to Jesus. A few days later, when Jesus came back to Capernaum, the news spread that he was at home. Many people gathered together so that there was no room in the house, not even outside the door. And Jesus was teaching them God's message. Four people came, carrying a paralyzed man. Since they could not get to Jesus because of the crowd, they dug a hole in the roof right above where he was speaking. When they got through, they lowered the mat with the paralyzed man on it. When Jesus saw the faith of these people, he said to the paralyzed man, "Young man, your sins are forgiven."

Can you imagine being the owner of the house? Good thing there wasn’t a roofers’ union back then! These four men desperately wanted to bring their paralyzed pal to Jesus. They weren’t going to let a little thing like not being able to get through the front door stop them. They were going to do whatever it took. So they climbed up onto the roof of the house, dug a hole through the clay, and lowered their friend right down in front of Jesus! Talk about not being denied.

Did you happen to notice that the Bible records that Jesus saw the faith of the friends. It was because of their faith that the paralyzed man is forgiven and healed. These men believed that if they were faithful and brought their crippled friend to Jesus, He would heal him. Their faith was firmly planted in the power of Jesus to heal and to forgive.

How’s your faith?

Do you believe in Christ’s power to heal and to forgive? Do you believe that if you faithfully bring your friends, relatives, associates, and neighbors to Jesus, He will bring healing and forgiveness to their lives? Don’t doubt it. Trust that the same Christ who is working in you wants very much to work in all those around you.
