Searching for More?
Is your life marked by seeking more of Christ? Are you finding that He is doing more through you than you ever dreamed possible, or does it seem like you are peddling along on a stationary bike? You aren’t really going anywhere but you sure feel tired!
In the book of Haggai, God’s words to the Israelites 2500 years ago are pertinent for us today. In that book, the Lord challenged the Israelites to consider how their lives were going, stating, “You have planted much but harvested little. You have food to eat, but not enough to fill you up. You have wine to drink, but not enough to satisfy your thirst. You have clothing to wear, but not enough to keep you warm. Your wages disappear as though you were putting them in pockets filled with holes!” (Haggai 1:5,6)
Why was it that the Israelites had plenty of food and drink but were never satisfied? Why was it that they had plenty of clothes but couldn’t get warm? Why was it that they never seemed to have enough money? God would go on to make the reason plain. “It’s because you have forgotten all about Me!” (Haggain 1:9)
The answer to more fulfillment, deeper satisfaction, and enduring purpose is not found in things, no matter how many of those things you may happen to have. The answer is found in Christ.
If you seem to be continually coming up empty, perhaps it is because you have not been searching for more in Christ? If your life is not infused with purpose, perhaps it is because you have been dipping your bucket into sun signs, sources, sparks, or the culture’s ways? If so, it’s time to drop your bucket into the vast ocean of God’s grace, Christ’s love, and the Spirit’s infilling.
Please understand, when you seek more in Christ, He makes more out of you!
Your next step is to look to Christ, to seek more of Him, and to understand His will for you right now. Fall on your knees, crawl into the lap of your Heavenly Father, and cry out, “Lord, give me more of your Son. Fill me with more of Christ. Begin to use me to do more than I ever thought possible.”
Those are the prayers that God delights in answering.
